Sparrows

An all encompassing piece that utilizes symbolism in its simplest form. Sparrows are messengers of happiness and represent a resilient strength. They are common but should never go overlooked.

Despina

My personal rendition of Despina, one of the fifty-five fictional cities featured in Italo Calvino’s novel Invisible Cities. Despina is described as a city that takes on a different form depending on whether a traveller approaches by land or sea. The camel driver sees the city as a ship, whereas the sailor sees it as a camel; each traveller projects their contrasting hopes and dreams on the bordering landmark. This project illustrates both perspectives.

Thank Your Lucky Stars

An alternative vinyl packaging for the album Thank Your Lucky Stars by the band Beach House. The cover and the following respective sides tell a love story that puts an interpretive twist on the final track titled “Somewhere Tonight.” It is a playful and heartfelt take on branding that further draws in audiences and engages listeners.

Mind over Matter

A series of posters for a hypothetical mental health awareness campaign with the purpose of avoiding the tired and stigmatized imagery that is typically paired with this topic. Each poster symbolizes a different mental health condition through metaphorical visual language. I wanted to convey a sense of understanding and outlook that can connect and create conversation.

Recognition

A five-page comic inspired by an excerpt from Out of Sight, a novel by Elmore Leonard. It captures a moment of fleeting intimacy between two strangers who, upon locking eyes, recognize something in one another that they cannot explain.

Reimagining Le Carte di Gioco

A modern reimagining of the culturally iconic Italian playing cards. This project displays and focuses on the three face card sets (Fante, Cavallo, and Re) within the four suit sets (Coppe, Danari, Spade, and Bastoni), totalling twelve completed cards. The colours are a homage to the original deck, while the new character designs and suit symbols offer an exciting twist.
